Art Club

A friendly and supportive meet up of people who have or want to incorporate an art practice into their lives, as a hobby or professionally. This is for people of all abilities as well as those who are starting out on their creative journey.

Every week we try something different to open up the creative mind and try out varying mediums and techniques. A lot of the work is collaborative, which works well with mixed abilities and is always a lot of fun, but there is also the opportunity to make individual artwork as well.

This is a collaborative work that 11 of us made in 1.5 hours at the Monday evening art club. We used soft pastels on to brown sugar paper, drawing inspiration from sout west based artist Richard Suckling.

Basic art materials are included but you are also welcome to bring your own should you wish to develp your work further.

The club is now running on both Monday evening 6.30pm - 8.30pm and Thursday lunch time 1 - 3pm. A similar theme is covered on both days although the sessions may vary depending on the participants. Also on Fridays from 1 - 3pm is Textile Art. Monthly paying members have the option to attend as many sessions as they wish for no extra cost.

The first session is free. Subsequent sessions will cost £8 per session payable at the session, or £20 per month payable via standing order.

Note that this club is for adults but please register your interest if you would like an art club for children jamila@artmoorhaven.org

Directions:

If travelling via car turn down David's Lane and follow the brightly coloured signs saying 'Dartmoor Edge'. Park anywhere in front of, alongside or opposite the building taking care to park efficiently to allow space for others to park.

The postcode is PL21 0EZ which you may like to use, but please DON'T follow your satnav at the last turn, or it will take you to the wrong side of the building - make sure to turn up David's Lane instead.

It is a 20 minute walk from Ivybridge train station. It is a 10 minute walk from the nearest bus station at Davy's Cross (GOLD or X38 bus, get off in between Ivybridge and Bittaford). There are also plenty of places to lock bikes or you may bring your bike into the building if you prefer.

Please enter the building via the fire exit half way along, next to the railway, under the big chimney. After entering the building, take the corridor to the right, minding the step as you enter the big hall.
